Art 2 Final Exam:
1. How do you describe your artistic style/perspective? How do you define success as an artist? What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What are some of the most important skills you draw upon to create your work? What are some of the most significant things you've learned through art-making?
I would describe my artistic style as painting and drawing in a realistic way. I have painted in oil for a couple of years and have really enjoyed working with it as a medium. It takes a while to dry but it's easy to blend colors. I also draw using prismacolored pencils. I would define success as an artist would be achieving and growing as an artist. You have grown in different areas and developed new techniques. As an artist I find growing talent and developing my skills is most rewarding. Like looking back at my old artwork and comparing it to my new pieces it rewards me to see the growth in between. Skills I draw upon to create my art is being able to see shapes, colors, highlights, shadows and textures in the reference photo and being apply those techniques to the painting. The most significant things that I learned through art was how to paint eyes, fur, smooth textures, faces, glass, landscapes and I learned better techniques with blending and showing textures with prismacolors.

2. Choose 2 mini lessons that you felt were the most beneficial in your learning for that particular project. Include photos of these and explain thoroughly. Do you feel you needed more instruction for success? Explain or did you feel that the instruction given was enough to ensure success?Explain.
Doing the acrylic color value chart and the color wheel mini lessons were most beneficial to my learning. I did an acrylic painting last semester and it was my first time using this medium. At first I was struggling with blending the colors and creating different values. When we did these mini lessons I feel like I got more instruction on how to be more successful. I learned that I needed to mix colors together on the palate before applying it onto the canvas. I feel like I was given enough instruction to be successful. This is because I learned how to blend colors better and add tints and shades to show the different values. In my color wheel I created lips and created depth by using black for the shadows and shades and used white for the tints and highlights.

3. What medium was your favorite to work with? Explain why and how you were able to master the techniques associated with this medium.
My favorite medium that I worked with was prismacolored pencils. I have used them before and already learned different techniques. I did learn some new techniques this year that I didn't understand or grasp before. Using prismacolors I find that I really like to draw realistically and that I try and use the colors I see in reference photos but I also use some other compliment colors along with it to make it look more realistic. I like to draw more of objects and animals more than landscapes. I was able to master these techniques I learned by practicing over and over again. As I've matured as and artist I can see more things in an image than I once could. I'm also learning and appreciated to incorporate more than one picture into my drawings and making it into my own style.

4. Discuss one project where you felt you were the least successful. Explain why you felt this way. What would you do differently to change this piece? Explain.
The project that I felt less successful in was the printmaking project. I think I added too many objects and details in my print that when it was time to cut the linoleum I was struggling to make a clean cut. I also didn't label where all my colors went on the linoleum and I didn't get the right outcome for how organized I wanted it to be. Besides cutting the linoleum I struggled with putting my print onto the paper. I kept moving it in different spots making my print look not aligned. If I did this project again I would pick a different image and plan out more details of what I want my final composition to turn out. I also will add more ink onto the linoleum because I didn't have enough ink on my print which made some blur spots. The final thing that I would do differently would be to choose different colors and plan it out better so when I cut it, it will be easier.
